How to Preview Makeup and Character Looks with AI Photo Composition

Jadu applies selected hair, makeup, wardrobe, and other reference features to a portrait. Choose an original photo, place pins where you want changes, and connect a reference and feature to each pin to preview your character’s next look.

Choose the detail to change and the question to review

Makeup artists, hair and wardrobe teams can align their direction before filming, while character designers can compare styles. Instead of changing everything at once, start with one question you want this concept to answer.

A composition is not a guarantee of the final physical makeup. Use it to explore silhouette and color combinations on the actor’s face, then continue evaluating with real materials and lighting.

  • Hair: check whether the length and overall silhouette suit the character
  • Makeup: compare color around the eyes and the appearance of the lips
  • Wardrobe: consider whether the neckline and garment shape suit the person’s mood

The original defines the person and scene; the reference defines the feature to change

The original should show the person, expression, pose, and framing to preserve. A reference provides selected features such as hair or makeup; it is not intended to transfer the entire person in that photo.

Hair covering much of the face or a cropped garment may hide information needed for review. Check that the area you want to change is clearly visible in both photos.

  • Prepare one clear original photo of the person.
  • Choose a reference that clearly shows the feature to apply.
  • Choose a separate reference for each feature when changing several areas.

Confirm the framing before placing pins

Selecting an original in a new project opens the photo editor. Choose portrait 2:3 or landscape 16:9, adjust zoom and position, and apply the framing. This image becomes the basis for pin placement and composition.

Applying a new crop resets the pins, so you will need to place them again. Check that essential areas, such as the top of the head or the bottom of the garment, are not cut off before you start.

  • Make sure the face and the area to edit are inside the frame.
  • Apply the photo edit with your chosen framing.
  • Click the area to change on the original photo to place a pin.

Connect a reference photo and choose a feature for each pin

Connect a photo in the pin card and check “Feature to apply from the photo.” Choose the actual area to change, such as hair, beard, makeup, or wardrobe. Focus on a specific feature rather than the reference photo’s overall mood.

Use a separate pin and reference for each area. Stages are organized by the selected features, so check how each reference corresponds to its stage on the generation screen rather than relying only on pin numbers.

Compare intermediate results as well as the final image

As composition progresses, the original, each pin’s intermediate result, and the final image appear in sequence. Review the requested detail separately from preservation of the original person. If you like the hair but the face or background has changed, record that difference too.

Move the comparison slider on the final result to compare it with the original. Download the intermediate results and final image individually, and reopen completed work from the work list.

  • Do the intended length, shape, and color match the reference?
  • Are the facial features, expression, and gaze reasonably consistent with the original?
  • Have any unrequested wardrobe, background, or lighting changes appeared?
  • Is this a useful concept for discussing actual makeup and filming?

Review one possible cause when a result needs improvement

If the shape was unclear, check the reference first. If placement was off, check the pin and selected feature. Changing several conditions at once makes it harder to tell which one affected the result.

AI composition is affected by occlusion, angle, lighting, and reference clarity. Perfect preservation of the original person and a desired result every time cannot be guaranteed. Compare the generated image yourself before making a final decision.
